Chloe has one plan for the future, and one plan only: the road. She’s made a promise to herself: don’t let anyone in, and don’t let anyone love her. She’s learned the hard way what happens if she breaks her rules. So she’s focused on being invisible and waiting until she can set out on the road—her dream of freedom, at least for a little while.

Blake Hunter is a basketball star who has it all—everything about him looks perfect to those on the other side of his protective walls. He can’t let anyone see the shattered pieces behind the flawless facade or else all his hopes and dreams will disappear.

One dark night throws Chloe and Blake together, changing everything for Blake. For Chloe, nothing changes: she has the road, and she’s focused on it. But when the so-called perfect boy starts to notice the invisible girl, they discover that sometimes with love, no one knows where the road may lead.

Here it goes.
This is as vulnerable as it gets.
I’m not one to show weakness. I’m not one to express heartache.
But One day an author I love opened her heart and let me read a fraction of the greatness she has within her.
Jay McLean
Author of the More Series
Author of the stunning and pivotal Where the Road Takes Me.
Let me at my weakest moment read an ARC.
I can’t really express truly the depth of acceptance and heart I feel after reading Where the Road Takes Me, so if you read a little further you may understand why.

“Be strong when you are weak, brave when you are scared, and humble when you are victorious.”

It all begun at the darkness of night when Chloe and Blake meet in a park built with the bones of trees and ground of concrete.  Eluding fake names they have no clue who each other are, except just a boy and girl; Chloe haunted by a traumatic past, Blake trying to decide the future path, both with different paths. This powerful journey of Blake and Chloe  ignited a depth of harrow that bewilders romance, heart, hope, beauty in the heart and acceptance leaving a true imprint that is written within the etchings of my heart that will forever be there.

I can honestly can Where the Road Takes Me helped me through the most terrifying time of my life; where I like the main character Chloe had these walls up and the past haunted me but I opened up slowly as acceptance, love, friendship and hope all let me breath in a new light. The character of Chloe is a difficult one to do justice; because her flaws, her plan and her heart all combined with the hunky Basketball star of Blake; who sees something in Chloe and the love that develops was with intensity and pure raw heart.

Every part, every soul, every meaning of Where the Road Takes Me was like reading from my heart. I can’t get through writing, speaking, breathing about this story without tearing up so as my eyes get really watery, I just say the blend of heart, hope and emotion that swoons a perfect blend within the novel is truly life-defining and Jay has allowed Chloe to speak and myself to learn that fighting a battle of sickness is better with help.  The story that I hope everyone picks up and truly is a poignant representation of a heart and life’s obstacles and with a heart that is beating so fast, I don’t want to spoil the story accept to say no words of mine can do the impact justice, the sheer impact of Jay McLean’s heart and her words leave me knowing that if anything someone understand.

The heart of Chloe and Blake is to follow where the road takes you and that’s what I will endeavour to do. Jay lots of hearts!

“Regardless of all the black-letter days you might have to endure, there’s always a red one waiting for you.”

{Excerpt}

Chloe lifted her gaze and locked it with mine. She shook her head again and groaned, “Fine.” Then she took off her shirt.

My jaw dropped.

My hands had touched her bare skin, the curve of her hips, and her tiny waist, but I’d seen her body only once, when she was in a bikini, and that had been for only a minute. But that was nothing compared to seeing her like this. Up close. So close her sports bra–covered breasts were just under my nose.

“Blake?” she whispered.

I struggled to take my eyes off her chest, but I finally made it to her face. She had her hair tied up in a messy knot on top of her head, like she often did. But a few strands were stuck on her neck and on her face . . . and a little sheen of sweat covered her arms and her stomach, her chest, her breasts . . .

“Blake,” she repeated, and I trailed my eyes back to hers again.

She pouted before she said, “Give me the ball?”

I shook my head and hid the ball behind my back.

She pouted again. “Please?” she whispered. Then a hint of a  smile broke through.

“Are you trying to seduce me into giving you my ball?”
