Title: Spark (Spark Series #1)
Author: Jennifer Ryder
Release Date: February 28, 2014
Not many people know that I, Eevie Lawson, have a problem. An addiction to romance novels. I eat them for breakfast. I hide it the best I can, but I need them to breathe. It’s how I cope.
I’ve had a swag of book boyfriends, but now that I’m free from the responsibility of caring for my three younger brothers, it’s time to find one in the flesh.
In real life, no girl meets their hero on page one, or even at the end of chapter one. I should know.
My journey is real. It’s not perfect, and it sure as hell isn’t easy—but the fight for something worthwhile never is.
The one that sparks your attention will always hold a place in your heart. The enchantment of Spark by debut author Jennifer Ryder had been gushing and swooning from the very beginning. You know when a swoon worthy writer comes along in a merry of so many writers from around the world because they grab your attention. Jennifer did exactly that with Spark. I loved it because we were introduced a narrative that I think is so relatable to what teenagers and adults go through. The narrative shows not every relationship has a happy ending, but sometimes if you wait and you trust that somewhere love is out there it will find you. Eevie is the reason why I love to read, in definition. She has soul, heart and an uncharacteristic way of finding a dream through all that she has dealt with in past relationships and family life.
From the bottom of my heart the love that was created between Eevie and Aidan is a testament to writing a strong narrative that intertwines relatable emotions within characters. The narrative is very coming of age, and how relationships change, develop and can be challenged by a range of different things. I laughed and awed at some of the cute heart-to-heart scenes between Eevie and Aidan. Jennifer did a tremendous job at putting together two characters, who have loved, been hurt and finding a growth that both mutual develops through the narrative. I think Eevie conveys emotion that everyone finds within themselves at one time or another and that is why I loved it.
Overall, I give Spark by Jennifer Ryder a 5++ Lit Love because it speaks so true of the uncanny feeling of emotion, that can happen at the right time. Sometimes, you have to go through heart ships to get to where your suppose to be, and that’s what I felt like Jennifer did. If I could find a guy like Aidan that’s the next issue. He is breathtakingly awesome. I can’t wait for the next book in the series as I envision romance, charm and a breathtakingly awesome career for Jennifer.
