REVIEW

ROAD TRIP. ROAD TRIP. ROAD TRIP.

I may still be chanting, HOT.. Yes.. Damn it… aww… in that order might I add, when it comes to my admiration for Right Kind of Wrong by Chelsea Fine. The latest release in the Finding Fate series (novels can be read as standalones) could not have done wrong in my books. It makes me want to go and get a tattoo too. The narrative follows Jenna (Pixie’s best friend from the previous books) as she heads to her hometown on a road-trip that through a twist of fate lands a companion in the form of one-night-stand-but-in-the-eyes-more Jack.

“What I feel completely contradicts what I want. I feel more attracted to Jack than I do to anyone else, but I don’t want him to be my boyfriend. I feel possessive of Jack when he hooks up with other girls, but I don’t want to be one of the girls he hooks up with.”

Jack & Jenna set out on this road trip with steaming feelings temperamentally waiting to explode from the surface of their skin. However, Jenna has a plan. Jack doesn’t see the plan, he just see’s Jenna. However when things go haywire and Jenna learns more about Jack’s past it was really interesting to see how she reacts. I love love love Chelsea’s books. There is so much charisma, charm and believable character flaws and beliefs that she instigates within her narrative that send a ricochet of emotions through you when reading.

The banter between Jack & Jenna, and the defiance in finding love, knowing that your plans can change at any moment and how your emotions guide you home is all a bewitchment of how Chelsea’s books hit home and draw so much power. Right Kind of Wrong was a star, it was beautifully written, perfectly paced and the Jack and Jenna set a light an electric fireworks show of turmoil, emotional love, fighting for love and what can happen with just one road trip. Absolutely loved it! xx 5 MILLION STARS!

Top 5 Tips To Aspiring Authors

by Chelsea Fine

1. You don’t have to start at chapter one. If you really want to write a book, but can’t get past that opening line, don’t be afraid to skip ahead to something later on in your story that excites you. Like the first kiss, or the ending, or a funny scene in the middle. Write what you feel, when you feel it. The first chapter will eventually come to you.

2. Stay inspired. If you’re struggling with a story and can’t quite get in the “mood,” get out and find some inspiration. Drive without a destination. Watch the sun set. Go to a museum. Read a book in a genre you’ve never read before. Do something different that might loosen up your creative energy and then go back to your manuscript. Inspiration is fuel, and you can’t write a book on empty.

3. Find your perfect writing vibe. My ideal writing “vibe” is in my office, during the day, with a cup of coffee, and music playing in the background. Other people need to be on their couch, in the dead of night, sipping green tea. Everyone has their own perfect setting for creativity. Find one that works for you and stick with it.

4. It’s okay to fail. It’s important, actually. You can’t get better unless you fail a few times and learn how to improve. Successful careers are paved with mistakes, and the only difference between a successful career and a lackluster one, is the ability to pick yourself up and try again. And again.

5. BE FEARLESS! Fear is your worst enemy in this business. It will knock you down, paralyze you, and steal your passion and self-confidence—but only if you let it. There are plenty of things to be afraid of, in any profession, but writing is especially personal and, therefore, particularly terrifying. We writers pour our hearts into our books and then we let others read and criticize them. It’s a crazy exchange and it takes tremendous courage, but I promise it is absolutely worth the frayed nerves.

EXCERPT

The way I felt about Jenna used to piss me off. I’ve never been one to need or even want a girl messing up my life. Just the opposite, in fact. The Lone Wolf role suited me well and I was perfectly content with my world of solitude. But Jenna came along and twisted everything up. She turned me inside out and made me feel complete in a way that made no sense. I fought the sentiment, of course. There’s no room for anyone in my messed up life—especially not a wild, stubborn, reckless girl like Jenna.

But fighting proved futile, and somewhat self-destructive, so I did what all good leaders do when they realize losing a battle could mean winning the war: I surrendered. Not to Jenna, exactly, but to the way she made me feel. It’s not a pretty or romantic thing. It’s a truth with scars and holes—and it commands me completely.

Does that make me weak? I used to think so. But then I see Jenna, still in the throes of a battle I’ve long since succumbed to, and I wonder which of us is stronger. Which of us sleeps well at night and which of us tosses in the moonlight.

Strength isn’t about what you can and cannot achieve. It’s about what you will and will not do in order to achieve. And on that, I know exactly where I stand.

Watching Jenna across the inn’s lobby, I take a deep breath and prepare for round two of what is sure to be a memorable—if not fatal—road trip back home.

“I’m ready when you are, diva!” I call out.

Complete agitation covers her face as she whips around with narrowed eyes and yells, “Don’t. Call. Me. DIVA!”

I grin. “It never gets old.”

“God!” she exclaims, thrusting her arms up again.

The look on her face is priceless. I could do this all day. I might, actually.

Wagging my eyebrows in an inappropriate manner, I slip back outside and let the door fall shut.

A moment later, the inn door flies open and Jenna stomps down the porch steps to meet me by the car. I quickly shove my phone in my pocket, wanting to put as much distance as possible between my present circumstances and the mess waiting for me back home, and climb into the car at the same time she does.

She’s huffing and puffing and cursing under her breath like a spoiled teenager, but when her eyes finally flick to mine there’s no hostility there, just impatience.

“You’re paying for all the gas,” she says, sliding a pair of dark sunglasses over her golden eyes. “And I mean every single drop.”

I lean back in the passenger seat, repressing the joyous satisfaction I feel at the haughtiness on her face. “Yes, ma’am.”

If buying Jenna’s gas keeps her safe by my side then I’ll purchase every last drop in the country. And then some.
