There once was a boy, and I loved him.

Logan Francis Silverstone was the complete opposite of me. I danced while he stood still. He was quiet, and I was always running my mouth. He struggled to find a smile while I refused to frown.

The night I saw the darkness that truly lived inside of him, I couldn’t look away.

We were broken together, yet somehow whole. We were wrong together, but always right. We were the stars that burned across the night sky, searching for a wish, praying for better tomorrows.

Until the day I lost him. I threw us away with one hasty decision—a decision that changed us forever.

There once was a boy, and I loved him.

And for a few breaths, a few whispers, a few moments, I think he loved me, too.

Blogger down. I repeat. Blogger down! I’m in a rabbit hole, stuck in a whirlwind of emotions and I can’t stop my heart from rapidly beating out of my chest. Heart. Beat. Heart. Beat. Emotions. Emotions. EMOTIONS. AHHHHHHH!!!!!! You may be wondering what has me in a tangent of incoherence and it’s BRITTAINY C. CHERRY’S FAULT, well I should say Logan & Alyssa’s story’s fault but who am I kidding Brittainy has broke this blogger into incoherence full of emotions. I’m currently in a twirl of wanting to drink liquor, eating ice-cream, laughing, crying, smiling, grinning and basically on cloud fn nine full of emotion ! I usually don’t caps me reviews but this is warranted.

OH.

MY.

EMOTIONS

E V E R Y W H E R E!

The Fire Between High and Lo is the burn of love and hate; the combustion of past and present; the liquor of good and bad choices and it was EVERYTHING and more to be able to experience the writing, the language, the heart and soul of the book. This is one of those books that you will want to reread and reread and reread! I honestly hope whether your a first time reader of Brittainy’s or have read all her books that you read uninhibitedly with your heart and feel every word, every sentence and every passage with it’s true meaning of heart and emotion.

“She believed in God while I danced with demons. She had a future while I somehow seemed trapped in the past.”

The story follows Logan and Alyssa; teenagers when we meet them, adults when the words of the page cease on final page turn. He was the boy she loved and although they were polar opposites. He was the still beat to the music as she danced, holding; whispering, struggling and loving.

Logan and Alyssa were the fractured glass that never shattered completely, the crack in the sidewalk that always held together and their connection; their bond left me weeping in a bed full of tissues.

“He kissed me with promises that we never made to one another. He kissed me with apologies for things he never did. He kissed me with all that he was, and I kissed him back with everything that existed within me.”

Logan and Alyssa were entangled as friends to lovers, lovers to strangers, strangers to friends and the possibilities of the future beckons and shatters with every walking step. Their time together in the past held, as five years later a call from home deems to reopen wounds and fight the balance of everything that was now.  In parts of the story we see flashbacks to childhood and what builds and breaks Logan as the man he is today which destroyed and made me understand his character better.

“He was afraid of letting anyone know of his love, because if life had taught him anything, it was that love wasn’t a prize, it was a weapon. And he was so tired of being hurt.”

The Fire Between High and Lo was E V E R Y T H I N G to me, it was the perfect blend of romance and emotion; the beauty of being shattered but whole with the one who holds you heart. It’s a love story that unravels in a continuing story of life in a timespan of many years. It was a heartbreaking yet breathtakingly beautiful and it is a book I will forever treasure. This is undoubtedly one of the best books I have read in 2016. I want to thank Brittainy because without her words, her voice, her heart and soul in this book I never would have been able to experience a love story so beautiful, raw and perfect that it will remain in my heart forever.

#1 The Air He Breathes

I was warned about Tristan Cole.

“Stay away from him,” people said.
“He’s cruel.”
“He’s cold.”
“He’s damaged.”

It’s easy to judge a man because of his past. To look at Tristan and see a monster.

But I couldn’t do that. I had to accept the wreckage that lived inside of him because it also lived inside of me.

We were both empty.
We were both looking for something else. Something more.
We both wanted to put together the shattered pieces of our yesterdays.

Then perhaps we could finally remember how to breathe.
