In an instant I’m transferred in a universe yet again that reminds me why I love romance novels. I just finished reading The Play Mate by Kendall Ryan and ALL THE FEELS are buzzing through me currently!

Ryan’s latest novel encapsulates every single precious thing I love about reading romance novels! It was pure romance at it’s finest and it made my heart beat from beginning to end. I love a brothers best friend trope and this one stole my heart from the very first words with hilarious banter between it’s leads and warmth in the moments of romance it was one I couldn’t put down.

We first meet Evie when she sets out a plan to seduce Smith; her brothers best friend and get him into bed. She had teenage fantasies about him but he never saw her as anything but his best friends sister in the early years. One night after a meeting Evie throws caution to the wind in the best way possible and heads to Smith’s room. What leads after that may be a blessing or a curse dependent on how you look at it for each characters perspective.

The fire cascades with harsh flames of reality and emotions as after one encounter the formation of playful banter that simmers and builds is magical although Evie’s concern is her brother Cullen and his reaction after all she doesn’t want to destroy the relationship Cullen and Smith have. However it’s nothing like the chemistry between Smith and Evie.

Smith and Evie’s love story will hook you into reading The Play Mate from the very beginning as the feisty banter filled romance between these two made me swoon and fan myself as it’s passion was next level on the hot scale. I fell hard for this story and Smith and Evie’s relationship. I was smiling at every moment they had a conversation with their bodies and the voices of Ryan’s characters are always phenomenal as they embody so much.

The Play Mate was truly an amazing read, I would highly recommend you picking it up if you haven’t already. Kendall Ryan has a voice and her novels forever hold a place in my heart, this book is no different and I loved reading Smith and Evie’s story so much! x
