SOMETIMES THE ONE WHO LOVES YOU IS THE ONE WHO HURTS YOU THE MOST

Lily hasn't always had it easy, but that's never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She's come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up - she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily's life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, and maybe even a little arrogant. He's also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily, but Ryle's complete aversion to relationships is disturbing.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan - her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

With this bold and deeply personal novel, Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. It Ends With Us is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.

This book contains graphic scenes and very sensitive subject matter.

IT ENDS WITH US! IT ENDS WITH US! IT ENDS WITH US! IT ENDS WITH US! IT ENDS…

As I sit down to write my review for It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover, I realise I actually can’t write this review. I have been sitting on my feelings for two days with them swirling around ready to break free but no words coming out as my fingers sit still on the keyboard. You know there is a boy and a girl; a women and a man, human and human in this story whether they end up to together is not my place to say, it’s yours to find out. You know Colleen Hoover has a knack for showing the not shown; the reality verses the imaginary we like envelope ourselves in to escape reality. It Ends With Us burrows to the most intimate and brave writing one can experience and the courage it embodied for Hoover to write something so raw and heartbreaking is something I won’t forget any time soon.

“Naked truths aren’t always pretty.”

As a reader meeting a character for the first time is like meeting a best friend, your immediately attached at the hip and never want to say goodbye. That was what it was like when I met a twenty-three year old Lily Bloom on the day of her father’s funeral. To me she wasn’t just a character, she came to life and so did Hoover’s words at every moment I read. On the day of her father’s funeral Lily meets Ryle Kincaid a handsome young neurosurgeon and that changes the shape and love she knows in her heart. What begins as fiery instant of attraction moves bounds of years and a love created but never expected blooms.

The deeper I fell into this story the more I read page after page into the night. The love that Lily and Ryle had however was brought to a shadow of darkness when Lily’s past starts spreading and forming into her mind and that was something that intrigued and guided the stories heart.

“All humans make mistakes. What determines a person’s character aren’t the mistakes we make. It’s how we take those mistakes and turn them into lessons rather than excuses.”

Human emotions are sometimes the black of darkness and the white of the earths nature and I’m absorbed in the emotion of this story still to this very moment. It is impossible to full explain this story as it wills you to read with a pull and tug and I can promise you tissues will be needed as this one isn’t for the light-hearted romance lovers, so prepare yourself.

Colleen Hoover yet again trademarks a rarity and raw scripture of writing with It Ends With Us as the characters shape and powerful emotions embody so much passion in nature but also so much heart in soul. Nothing is as powerful as a message written in words and Colleen Hoover delivered such a powerful and raw emotional message in this book. It pulled at my heart strings and I don’t think I ever will truly come to terms with has perfectly imperfect the characters ultimately left us with at the end. A true must read book but know don’t go in with spoilers if possible, go into reading It Ends With Us with tissues, ice-cream, maybe some vodka but also an open mind in knowing that a love story is what we make of it and in life the choices we make aren’t always easy.
